What is Plantable Seed Paper?

Hey There! Are you on the hunt for a memorable and more sustainable option for your wedding stationery, corporate event or small business? Imagine this: seed paper, the magical stuff that not only cuts down on waste but literally blooms into beautiful plants after planting. It's like adding a little touch of nature's charm to your event invites and more!

    What is seed paper?

Plantable seed paper is a type of paper that contains seeds embedded within it. Seed paper utilises recycled materials and is biodegradable. After use, recipients plant the invitations in soil, and the embedded seeds will sprout and grow into beautiful flowers.

    How is seed paper made?

Plantable seed paper is made by combining recycled paper pulp with flower (or even herb!) seeds. The mixture is then formed into sheets and dried. The result is a paper that can be printed on and used like traditional paper, but with the added benefit of being able to grow plants.

What types of seeds are available?

Our Signature Seed Blend includes a colourful flowering mix of Swan River daisy, chamomile, alyssum and ageratum. We also offer custom seed blends such as Herb Garden  - parsley, thyme and oregano, or individual seed types on request too. Meaning, you can choose the type of seeds that best fits your event and location.

How do you use seed paper?

We can create wedding invitations, thank you cards, business cards and more with the impressive versatility of plantable seed paper. We offer two services for  bringing your designs to life:
    1. We can create a bespoke design, tailored to your event/style
    2. You can bring a print-ready design to us for us to print directly onto the seeded paper
It couldn't be easier to bring your stationery to life. When ready, simply lay the card on top of soil, water in well (until soaking!) then place it in a sunny spot to sprout. You'll see sprouts in around 3-4 days, but important part is making sure the card doesn't dry out during the first 7-10 days, to ensure full germination takes place.

    Quarantine notice

Because the paper contains living seeds, unfortunately we do not recommend sending them into Tasmania as it may attract an inspection fee, or simply result in non-delivery.

If you are thinking of having your event printed on seeded paper, remember to only buy from Australian retailers, as there may be fines or costs associated with importing seeded paper from overseas.

Overall, using plantable seed paper for your stationery is a great way to reduce your environmental impact and add a unique touch to your event. Plus, your guests/customers will love the idea of planting their invitations and watching them grow into beautiful flowers!
